Even a smile can make a difference.

One day, a young man came to our house with one of our friends from church.  When I met him, I greeted him like I always say hello to someone here...with a smile.  I then left to do something else.  A few days later, our friend that had brought the young man with him, came over with his family. He told me his friend had said that when I smiled at him, it was the first time since he was a little boy, that had he felt special or worth anything to anyone.  I was so blessed to hear that! I had no idea that a smile could do so much! I was very thankful for the lesson God taught me that day. And the lesson was this - The Holy Spirit can work through us using even what seems to be the littlest thing at the time.  Nothing is too small or too big for God! Smile

I had the opportunity to be by the ocean again last week. It's one of my favorite places to spend time at now. This time, I really got to see what the fishing boats are like here. They remind of the boats you might see in an old movie Smile.  Once again, I'm sorry that the pictures are so big. I'm not sure how to fix them.

The catch of the day! (or at least part of it)

This is what  the beach looked like during low tide.

But, even in the midst of God's creation is still the reminders of the idol worship in this country.

Growing Up In Thailand

Growing up in Thailand can be quite the adventure!  Just ask the Pruett kids, Shiloh, Savannah, Summer and Smith!  Their family are missionaries here in southern Thailand. They are very sweet and their faces shine with the love of Jesus!
Being home-schooled in their house by the river,  surrounded by beautiful plants and wildlife (including their 6 cats, 3 goats, 2 ducks and several chickens!) definitely has it's advantages. There is always something nearby that their mom and dad can use to teach them more about God's creation and how to take responsibility with the things around them.
But the  best thing about living in this tropical country is being a light to the Thai people. In fact, their family also runs a cafe called "The Lighthouse". At "The Lighthouse" the Thais can come into a place that offers not only the opportunity to learn English, but the hope and truth that only Christ can give.  Of course, for the Pruett kids, being able to have a sweet snack everyday is also a plus : )
Shiloh, Savannah and Summer enjoy helping their mom bake desserts in the cafe's kitchen, while Smith loves to play with the younger children that come in.
It's not always easy to grow up in a different culture, learning a new language and being stared at all the time...but thesegreat kids see it as an opportunity to be used by God even in their young ages. I wish you could meet them!

In Thailand,  peppers are used A LOT in the food.  Here is a picture of one of my friends smashing some peppers  to be put in a very common dish called, Som Tom.

(Sorry the pictures are so big)

Most of the time, Som Tom, is made with papaya, but this one was made with a type of rice noodle.
