The gospel of easy believism has cursed your country.”
(Duncan Campbell)
The dynamite in my hands is the infallible Word of the living God. No right thinking Christian can doubt that the most urgent need of this hour is that we get this dynamite, this everlasting truth, carefully detonated beneath present day easy believism and jolt the sleeping church into mass attack against invading iniquity.”
(Dr. Michael L. Brown)
Here is the reason we have such a host of stillborn, sinew less, rickety, powerless spiritual children. They are born of half dead parents, a sort of sentimental religion that does not take hold of the soul, which has no depth of earth, no grasp, no power in it, and the result is a sickly crop of sentimental converts.
(Catherine Booth)

With the age of “user friendly” computer has also come the age of the “user friendly” gospel. A gospel that comforts the sinner instead of confronts the sinner. A gospel that bends to the sinner instead of breaks them. A gospel that caters to the sinner instead of convicting them.

God has not called us to be spiritual stockbrokers, who try to convince people that Jesus is a good investment that will yield a good return. Why have we cheapened the blood of Calvary? Why not tell people if they are not exhibiting a new life, then they have not had a new birth. The Bible says that we will know a tree by its fruit. Jesus said the road is narrow and difficult, yet we have made it appear wide and carefree. In so many ways we have put the cart before the horse. We have taught about the benefits of the Christian life without first preaching pending judgment. For this reason we have church buildings full of people trying to get the most out of Jesus, without Jesus getting much out of them. The gospel I follow tells me to count the cost before I count my blessings. It tells me I must die before I can dine at the Master’s table. It tells me I must forsake all before I can claim all. It tells me I must embrace the cross before I can enjoy the empty tomb. May we never be charged with preaching “another gospel” which is no gospel at all.
