October was a great month. And one of the main reasons why it was so good was because someone very special to me came to visit....my Dad! I was so good to see him, hug him, and hear his voice. While he was here I got to take him to language class one day and show him around the town a little bit. He also spoke at a 3-day family camp our church was a part of. The camp was a lot of fun and it was wonderful to hear Dad preach! I didn't' realize how much I miss listening to him.

He also surprised me with an early 20th birthday dinner at a nice restaurant with our team here. It was a very special night and I will never forget it. I love my dad!

Last month was also filled with learning new things about the Thai culture such as holidays and festivals. Most of the things I learned made my heart sad though, because it was mainly about how the Thais think they can get rid of their sins and trick the dead ancestors into thinking that they are living faithful Buddhist lives (even if they are not). It's all really sad and a good reminder of why we are here. The Thais need Jesus!

Now we are looking forward to and getting ready for Thanksgiving! We sure do have a lot to be thankful for this year. Mary Beth, the kids and I have made some Thanksgiving place mats for the table not too long ago and the food menu is being thought about. What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year? I would love to hear!  Here are the directions about how to make your own place mat!

What you'll need:

1. Your choice of -

Crayons

Colored pencils

Markers

2. Construction paper (fall themed colors - brown, red, orange, yellow)

3. glue

4. scissors

5. Printable coloring pages

6. Bible verse (optional)

7. Contact paper

Directions:

Find a website that has Thanksgiving themed free printable coloring pages and color the picture( we used Kaboose.com ). Next, carefully, with an adult's help, cut out the picture and glue to your preferred spot on the construction paper. If you want to, write a Bible verse talking about thankfulness and then cover with the contact paper. There you go! It's that easy.  We had a lot of fun making these and I hope you do too. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
